Swiss Religious Heritage Day 2025
Church in the neighbourhood. Church and social space
Friday, 29 August 2025
Zürich, Paulus Akademie, Pfingstweidstrasse 28
Church buildings are embedded in the neighbourhood and resonate with the village or town. Churches and church-owned properties play an important role in the context of the social space. Churches with extended uses contribute to the development of the social space, to urban development and to life in the neighbourhood. How do church spaces and social spaces affect each other? How can urban planning and the use of church spaces be brought into resonance with each other? How can the church remain in the village despite the dwindling of church institutions and church life? The sixth Swiss Church Construction Day is dedicated to these pressing questions and reflects on them from different perspectives and on the basis of specific examples.
The Swiss Religious Heritage Day has been taking place every two years since 2015. It is dedicated to current issues in church construction in Switzerland and promotes the exchange between decision-makers from the church, heritage preservation and the public. Participation is open to all interested parties.
